Winmark 72 is another seriously impressive Chardonnay from a winery whose complete dedication to the variety is really paying off. This is a richer, more powerful expression, but it still has the balance and precision that runs through the Winmark range.
Roasted nuts, stone fruit and charred citrus lead into poached pear, key lime pie and beautifully integrated toasty oak. The palate is silky, textural and seductive, with sourdough and grilled hazelnut notes adding even more complexity. What really stands out is the length — the flavour just keeps going.
A proper cellar-worthy Chardonnay with plenty to enjoy now, but enough structure to evolve beautifully over the next decade. Another stunner from a producer proving what can be achieved when Chardonnay is the sole focus.
