A juicy, medium-bodied Barbera from Gundagai with plenty of dark fruit and freshness. Blueberry, dark plum and sour cherry are joined by a subtle savoury, earthy edge, with bright acidity keeping the wine lively and very drinkable. It’s unoaked, so the fruit really does the talking, but there are still some lovely supple grape tannins that give the wine the balance, structure and mouthfeel it needs.
Who would have thought Gundagai was producing cracking styles like this? Smooth, vibrant and full of character, this is a really smart example of Australian Barbera and a terrific food wine.
