This was probably my favourite Chardonnay when I tasted through the Rustenberg range with Murray Barlow. Five Soldiers is their flagship Chardonnay and you can immediately see why. Ripe peach, nectarine and pear are layered with citrus, toasted oak, hazelnut and a lovely creamy texture. What really impressed me was the balance — there’s plenty of richness and power, but the fresh acidity and minerality keep it beautifully composed.
