Cinsault has its roots in southern France, particularly Provence and the Languedoc, where it’s long been prized for fragrant, fresh and beautifully drinkable wines.
This is such an interesting wine and a variety I’d love to see more of. There’s loads of character here, red berries, dried peach and cranberry, with floral notes, red liquorice, musk and a touch of spice. That cranberry-like tartness gives it a beautiful freshness and makes it dangerously easy to keep going back for another glass.
It’s light, vibrant and seriously drinkable, but there’s enough complexity to keep things interesting. I reckon this is a great Australian example of Cinsault and shows just how much potential this variety has here.
A cracking alternative for anyone who loves lighter, fresher reds and definitely one to try slightly chilled.
