This is something special. Helios is Penley’s flagship expression of Coonawarra Cabernet, and you can see why from the first glass. Powerful yet beautifully refined, with mulberry, violet and anise leading into layers of blackcurrant and rich liquorice. The palate has incredible depth, wrapped in silky, mouthcoating tannins that give the wine structure without taking away from its elegance. There’s real freshness and finesse underneath all that concentration. A serious Cabernet from an outstanding vintage, and one that will only get better with time.
