MONSERAN GRENACHE

This is a cracking example of Spanish Grenache from Cariñena, a region often regarded as one of the original homes of Garnacha.

What I really like about this wine is how generous it is without becoming heavy. There’s loads of ripe black cherry and raspberry, with a touch of earthiness and spice giving it a bit more interest. The palate is soft, juicy and rounded, with plenty of berry fruit, a hint of vanilla and a lovely smooth mouthfeel.

It’s the sort of red that is very easy to enjoy. There’s enough richness to handle beef or game, but it’s soft and approachable enough to work just as well with roast chicken, pizza or something off the barbecue.

For me, this is exactly what good-value Spanish Grenache should be, ripe, flavoursome, smooth and incredibly drinkable.
