I’m really loving the Helen’s Hill wines at the moment, and the Long Walk Pinot Noir is another one that shows just how well they’re travelling. It has lovely lifted aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and clove, followed by red cherry, cranberry and a gentle savoury edge.
There’s a little more structure and depth here than you might expect from a lighter Yarra Valley Pinot, but it still keeps that elegant, medium-bodied feel. Fine tannins, bright acidity and subtle notes of dried herbs and forest floor give it plenty of interest, while the long, focused finish keeps everything beautifully composed.
A really polished Yarra Valley Pinot Noir — drinking well now, but with enough structure to develop nicely over the next few years.
