A personal favourite of mine and another great example of Geoff Merrill’s ability to make reds that age beautifully while still retaining freshness and structure.
The nose is wonderfully complex, with coffee, smoky bacon and aged leather sitting alongside black olive, capsicum and tomato leaf. The palate is still remarkably youthful, with firm but ripe tannins, fresh acidity and plenty of blueberry fruit balancing the darker chocolate and herbaceous notes.
What I love about this wine is that it already has all the savoury complexity you want from an aged Cabernet, yet it still feels like it has plenty of life ahead of it. A beautifully structured, classic Cabernet and one of my favourite wines in the Geoff Merrill range.
