CLOUSTON & CO SAUVIGNON BLANC

I love how handcrafted these wines are. There’s a real attention to detail here that takes this well beyond your typical Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit is sourced from low-yielding vineyards across the Awatere, Southern and Wairau Valleys, then fermented and aged on fine lees in concrete egg and seasoned French oak for six months. Fresh herbs and tomato leaf jump out first, followed by gooseberry, fennel and nettle. The palate is dry and slightly salty, with lime and greengage plum, mouthwatering acidity and a lovely creamy texture from the lees ageing. A seriously interesting Sauvignon Blanc with texture, freshness and plenty of character.
