I love the handcrafted approach Clouston & Co take with their wines, and this Pinot is a great example. Hand harvested from their Brookby Hill Vineyard, fermented in open-top tanks, hand plunged, then aged for 11 months in French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Medium-bodied and savoury, with violets, wild thyme and bright red fruits leading into raspberry and red cherry, with earthy forest floor, coffee and bramble underneath. Velvety tannins, lovely spice and enough structure to age beautifully, but drinking brilliantly now. A proper Pinot with character, not just fruit.
