This was one of the real standouts for me when I tasted through the Rustenberg range with Murray Barlow owner, winemaker and descendant of Peter Barlow. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the oldest vineyard on the estate, it has wonderful concentration, with cassis, blackberry and black cherry layered with cedar, mint, spice and a touch of dark chocolate. What I loved most was the structure and length — powerful and serious, but beautifully balanced with fine tannins and a long, polished finish. A genuinely impressive Stellenbosch Cabernet with plenty of ageing potential.
