This is exactly the style of Grenache I love — lifted, fragrant and full of character rather than heavy or overdone. Coming from 65-year-old vines planted in the deep sandy soils of Vine Vale, it has beautiful purity, with ripe raspberry and red cherry, lavender and plenty of baking spice.
There’s real power underneath all that perfume, but the fine tannins keep it elegant and beautifully balanced. A terrific example of Barossa Grenache, and one that should only get better with a few more years in bottle.
