-CHAMLERS FALANGHINA
From the most recent importation of new clones and varieties to Australia via the Chalmers family. Falanghina refers to two distinct grape varieties in Italy, both grown in the south of Italy primarily – Falanghina Flegrea, a highly aromatic and fruity grape grown closer to the coast, and Falanghina Beneventana, a more savoury and mineral version grown further into the mountains behind Naples. This wine is made from the Chalmers imported clone of Falanghina Beneventana. At Chalmers we have a serious love for this promising variety for its complexity, drinkability and potential in the future of the Australian soils and wine industry.
This attractive wine is aromatic and racy, with notes of orchid and lime donating the nose. White stones and a persistent, tangy palate result in a wine with balanced tension and fresh appeal, think similar to a Riesling. Pair with aromatic, zesty dishes with an oily component such as Thai curry or Gyoza.
-ILAURI AVALOS PECORINO
Pecorino is a white wine grape variety and the wine made from it, originating in central-eastern Italy, primarily the Marche and Abruzzo regions. It is known for producing crisp, dry white wines with high natural acidity and flavors of citrus, stone fruit, and floral notes.
-BRIAR RIDGE ALBARINO
Albariño is a dry white wine with a bright and crisp taste, dominated by high acidity and a mix of citrus and stone fruit flavors. Common tasting notes include grapefruit, lemon, peach, and apricot, often complemented by a refreshing salinity reminiscent of sea air. It is typically light-bodied, unoaked, and meant to be enjoyed young.
-HITHER & YON GRECO
Greco is an ancient white grape variety, likely of Greek origin, primarily cultivated in southern Italy, especially in Campania. It is known for producing aromatic wines with notes of stone fruit, pear, and almond, along with minerality and crisp acidity.
-CORIOLE FIANO
Fiano is an ancient Italian white grape variety known for producing versatile white wines with a complex flavor profile, ranging from light and crisp to rich and full-bodied. These wines typically feature notes of citrus, stone fruit, honey, and hazelnut, along with a characteristic crisp acidity and a textured mouthfeel.
-CORIOLE PIQUEPOUL
Picpoul is an ancient French white grape variety gaining popularity in Australia, particularly in Mediterranean-style climates. Known for its zesty, high acidity—the name translates to "lip stinger"—Australian picpoul is a light-bodied and refreshing white wine that pairs exceptionally well with seafood and oysters. The first commercial picpoul in Australia was planted by Coriole in South Australia's McLaren Vale in 2010, with the first vintage released in 2015. A handful of other producers have since followed suit across various regions.
